My practice, Psychology Cove Consulting, welcomes children, adolescents and adults with cognitive and emotional concerns – offering very practical, effective and confidential support, in a safe, private and comfortable treatment space. My emphasis, is to always provide you or your loved ones with practical, applicable skills, so you and they can not only create, but also maintain a healthier and happier lifestyle. As well as this, I assist my clients in resolving their past and present struggles and to develop their awareness around their situation and encourage resilience with effective, practical coping strategies.
Where appropriate, one of the most powerful tools at my disposal is, nature. Many of my clients feel more relaxed and calm outdoors and I have consistently found that both children and teenagers in particular, experience many significant breakthroughs when I meet with them in less clinical and intimidating settings. They seem to respond more productively and often feel much more at ease in a playground or park or when we talk while walking. I meet them, ‘where they are at’ and having two young children of my own, I am very comfortable playing with children at a park and where appropriate, using toys and hand puppets, etc, to engage with them more readily.
Referrals and Therapy Sessions:
Here at Psychology Cove, our client’s, you have options. You can refer yourself by giving me a call or by contacting me via email. And, of course, we welcome your doctor’s referral, also. Where relevant, a medical history is helpful but not mandatory for access to our services.
First Session:
If you are uncertain and don’t know where to start, please don’t be concerned – this is very common. Be assured, the way we deal with our clients at Psychology Cove will be very sensitive and relevant to your situation.
For children, the first visit is always conducted without the child present. It is important that I meet with the parent/ s first, this to outline the process and to encourage them to be involved as much as possible from the outset, always cognisant of not breaching trust and confidentiality with their Child.
For couples, each person is provided with an individual session first, from which an evaluation of the circumstances is made. It might become clear from those discussions that several individual sessions are recommended initially, until it is suitable or in some cases safe, to bring the couple together. Each situation is different and assessed independently.
What to expect
Initially, you’ll be invited to have a somewhat informal chat with Kinga on the phone. It is designed to provide you with an opportunity to discuss your concerns and motivation for seeking professional help. There is no charge for this discussion.
During the discussion, Kinga will offer some useful insights, they will afford you a better understanding of where your challenges have likely come from and some understanding around the how and the why they are being sustained.
You will then be provided with recommendations for treatment and information about what the treatment involves. This assessment and any recommendations will be based on actual cases with the same or similar issues and have helped previous clients get real results, adapted to be the best ‘fit’ for you personally and your specific circumstances.
There is no obligation what so ever, to continue beyond this initial consultation.
If you do decide to continue into a therapeutic relationship with Kinga, sessions are typically scheduled on a weekly basis and structured around a one hour time frame.
Kinga is an experienced therapist, helping clients from all areas of the Sunshine Coast including Maroochydore, Kawana and surrounding areas. Kinga provides counselling sessions in whichever location is most comfortable for you.
